Line and Staff Organisation: When the industry grew into size and complexity, the line executives might not perform correctly all other functions as like R and D, distribution, public relations, planning and legal relation. It necessitated the employing of particular executives to help line executives and they were termed as Staff since they were recruited to execute staff or specialist tasks.
The line executives keep supervisory authority and also control over the work of their subordinates while the staff executives relieve the line executives of specific specialized work and advise them onto matters given to them.
