Characteristics of OD (organisational development):

1. Organisational growth is an educational strategy for starting a planned change.

2. This is associated to real problems of the organisation.

3. Laboratory training methods depends on experienced behaviour are primarily employed to bring change.

4. Organisational Development uses modify agent (or consultant) to guide and result the modification. The task of change agent is to guide groups in the direction of more effectual group processes quite than telling them what to do.

5. Change agents only assist the group during problem solving processes and the groups resolve the problems themselves.

6. A close working relationship is there in between change agents and the people who are being changed.

7. Organisational Development seeks to make problem solving capacity through develop group dynamics and also problem confrontation.

9. Organisational Development is a long term approach as of 3 to 5 years period and is meant to raise the organisation to a higher level of functioning by develop the performance and satisfaction of organisation members.
