As members of the senior management team, you have the following tasks:
1. Identify five business issues or concerns and then generate the Human Resources issues that come from those business issues.2. Access web sites of the employment laws in your province/country and review the home page of each. Identify which site would be the most helpful to you as an employer and why? Provide a brief summary of your findings.3. The President of your company has asked you to prepare job descriptions for the each member of the management team. What would you include as the five key duties and what would you list as three key skills? Put together an organization chart.4. Develop an advertisement for a newly created position in you company: your most senior HR position. Identify skills, knowledge and abilities required. Write the job advertisement and identify 3 questions to ask each candidate.5. One of the competencies that you want to establish in your company is "teamwork". List the behaviours/skills that would be critical and identify one or two training methods you will incorporate as part of your business objectives for 2010. If possible, provide examples of what your competition is doing.6. As a team identify and discuss what method of Performance Appraisal (see Chapter 10 in text) you would use in your organization. 7. Develop 2 to 3 compensation objectives for the company. Should there be an incentive program? Prepare your reasons as you might need to present to the President of the company.
