A collection of individuals who have a relation to one another that make them interdependent to some degree...Newly formed groups are immature. In many cases they are predominantly or in some cases totally, made up of members who are new to the organization.

There is evidence that groups go through certain stages of development and ultimately reach a certain stage of development and ultimately reach a level of maturity where they are able to focus on task accomplishment rather than on their own internal process. In such instances group development and socialization into the group go hand in hand.
