Here the essentials of scientific reporting with particular reference to writing up experimental work have been dealt with. In this context the following aspects have been elaborated in the unit:
1. importance of keeping a note book;
2. necessity of accurate documentation of observations;
3. meaning and significance of scientific validity of results;
4. basic statistical techniques;
5. different ways of presenting results; and
6. The appropriate writing style.
We hope that after studying this unit you will now be of the opinion that a clear, accurate and honest scientific reporting is vital to the study of science and scientific experiment. For this it is essential that first the experiment being planned well before selecting or assembling the apparatus? It is also important that prior thought be given to the kind of results desired and their intended use.
