Investigate and evaluate different Gas Turbine Engine configurations in use for commercial or military Gas Turbine Engine aircraft.

1) Through research, investigate the differences between gross thrust and net thrust.

2) Using two different engines: a high by-pass, triple spool turbo fan engine, and a turbo propeller engine (free-turbine), compare these engines and evaluate their performances with regard to Specific Fuel Consumption, Range and Operational Altitudes.

3) State the factors that will affect thrust and explain the effects upon engine operation.

Your report should be approximately 2500 words (+/- 10%) and contain relevant operating graphs, diagrams and examples.
