What are the flat bones and the long bones?

The major bones of the body may be divided as flat or long bones (there are bones not classified into these categories). Such as flat bones are the skull, the ribs, the hipbones, the scapulae and the sternum. Instance of long bones are the humerus, the radius, the ulna, the femur, the tibia and the fibula.
