Unstructured and Indirect Interview:

It has been found that the researchers face varied problems Owings to the unwillingness of the respondents to reveal all the information. They are sometimes unaware of the subjects. The unstructured and direct interview may give biased reports. Structured questions do not provide an ample opportunity to express their willingness attitudes and interests. Therefore clinical psychologists have developed disguised methods of gathering information and data. The respondents cannot know the object of the study an d may not be biased in their answers. The more unstructured and indirect a stimulus the more a subject can and will project his needs motivations emotion and attitudes.

The unstructured and indirect interview is very well known as a projective technique. In this technique all individuals in describing a situation interpret the situation to a degree. Various projective techniques are used but the most common methods are word association sentence completion and storytelling.
