Q. Treatment of angina pectoris?

Proper and careful treatment of the underlying cause (usually dyslipidemia, advanced atherosclerosis or sever chronic hypertension) is imperative to prevent the occurrence of any acute ischemic event namely myocardial infarction/stroke. Dietary management is the key component in preventing the progression of underlying disease condition. The most vital objectives of dietary and life style management include:

• To maintain ideal weight for age

• To lower blood pressure through drugs and diet control

• To avoid exertion and unnecessary stress

• To follow a prudent diet /DASH diet
