Q. Illustrate the cause of the grievances?

Calhoon observes, "grievances exist in the minds of individuals, are produced and dissipated by situations, are fostered or healed by group pressures, are adjusted or made worse by the supervisions and are nourished or dissolved by the climate in the organization which is affected by all the above factors and by the management". The main causes of grievance may be classified under the following categories:

Grievance resulting from working conditions:

1. Tight production standards.

2. Improper matching of the worker with the job.

3. Non availability of proper tools, machines and equipment for doing the job.

4. Changes in schedules or procedures.

5. Poor relationship with the superior.

6. Bad physical with the superior.

7. Failure to maintain proper discipline (excessive discipline or lack of it, both are equally harmful).
