Q. Illustrate ethical aspects of advertising?
1) Effect on culture: - Culture demotes to the way of life of group of people. It comprises life customs, morals, style, values, and habits of society. A few advertisements are distorting our cultural values. Effect of advertising on a variety of aspects of culture is discussed as bellow:
a) Food- Habits: - Unwarranted advertisement of junked food/ preserved food viz. burger, noodles, bread and so on is adversely affecting the food-habits of children and young. Now children favour such junked/preserved food to wholesome nutritious food.
b) Costume-Styles: - Some advertisement demonstrates models wearing western vulgar dresses. Our youth emulate such dress styles. Several sections of our society criticize the western vulgar dress style.
c) Wrong-Product-Positioning:- A few advertisements attach personality/ Status/ prestige symbol with some undesirable products consequently such ads are distorting our cultural value. For instance in an advertisement it is shown that wife is feeling pride when her husband is drinking this doesn't match with our culture.
d) Language: - Some advertisement utilizes indecent languages which has bad effect on kids and children as they emulate such language in their day to day conversation.
