You have been asked to establish and lead a small team whose members are to be drawn from a number of different organisations and locations. The team?s goal is to develop a new product. The team members will meet infrequently but will need to work closely together to meet some tight timescales.

(a) Discuss the problems likely to be encountered in trying to establish and lead a team such as this.

(b) Suggest what might be done to overcome these problems.

Question 2:

A senior manager in a large organisation was heard to say, „It is impossible to know what employees want but if you ensure that they have good salaries, employers do not need to worry about anything else.?

Critically evaluate this statement by reference to organisational examples and appropriate motivation theories.
