Given the importance of environmental issues from a political, social, economic and business point of view, it should come as no surprise that accounting for the environment and environmental issues are becoming extremely important to governments and business.

Required:

(a) Identify and explain two major environmental issues and state two potential effects of each issue

(b) Describe why an entity would wish to introduce environmental issues into its accounting system

(c) Environmental Accounting is a relatively new concept and has been developed in respond to the different environmental issues

(i) What is mean by Environmental Accounting and briefly explain its significance

(ii) Describe how Environmental Accounting adds a new dimension to the role of accounting for an organisation

(d) Briefly explain six benefits an entity can derive from adopting Environmental Accounting
