Define Types of Root Canal Perforations According to location

According to location (level) in relation to crestal bone):

  • Coronal perforation: (supragingival) coronal to the level of crestal bone and epithelial attachment with minimal damage to the supporting tissue and easy access, good prognosis.
  • Crestal perforation: (subgingival) at the level of epithelial attachment into the crestal bone, questionable prognosis.
  • Mid root: striping perforation. Apical perforation: apical to the crestal bone and the epithelial attachment good prognosis.
