Define Partition chromatography - basic separation technique?
It is a technique in which separation is achieved as a consequence of the relative solubility of a substance in the two phases i.e. stationary and mobile. This applies to systems where the stationary phase is a liquid and the mobile- phase a liquid or a gas. In partition methods, the stationary liquid phase, which is frequently water, is held in a column or sheet by an inert support.
