Defective population definition, Marketing Research

If the populate is not well defined and does not fit to the object of research study then an error occurs. In other words selection of an inappropriate population causes this error. Suppose a study is undertaken to know the views of industrial workers on incentives offered by a company. The study defines its population as male employees and interviews are held amongst them. The exclusion of female employees would be as source of error.
