Binary  to Octal Conversion

To convert a binary  number into octal  divide the number into  group  of three  bits each  starting from the least significant bit. Then put equivalent  octal digit  for each  group.

 Binary  to Octal Conversion of example

Example:  convert 101111100110110012 to octal

 Solution:  divide it in group of three bits each 

 (010) 2       (111)7   (110)6   (011)3   (011)3   (001)1

Therefore 101111100110110012 = 27633218
