The World Health Organization considers obesity today a public health issue as serious as malnutrition. Obesity is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, diabetes type 2, and hypertension, among others. It may be related to genetic inheritance and hormonal dysfunction, but the primary cause of excessive accumulation of fat in the body is the convenience of today's society and the culture of a poor diet.
