You can safely assume that readers are familiar with both the play and film, so be sure to analyze rather than merely summarize--that is, focus on the how and why rather than the what. And as you may have learned in other English classes, it is customary to use the present tense when writing about both literature and film. You would therefore say "Regina tells Horace that ..." rather than "Regina told Horace that ..."; or, "Stanley enters and tosses the meat to Stella" rather than "Stanley entered and tossed the meat to Stella."
