What is the difference between programmed and non-programmed decisions?

Why is non-programmed decision making an uncertain process?

Why innovation and product development are crucial components of the search for competitive advantage?

The first article was brief, but contained some interesting information. For example, the article discusses 'good' vs. 'bad' mistakes. In this regard, we can view some mistakes as 'good' because we learn from them. Bad mistakes are those that are derived form sloppy effort, for example.

Another interesting point was that 'boredom' is linked to creativity. Sometimes when the brain is relaxing, or during 'down' times, individuals often come up with their 'best, most creative ideas. (commonly referred to as 'unplugging'). This means that if you are constantly on your phone (texting, surfing, etc), you are not allowing your brain that time to develop new ideas.

4. When do you generate your most creative ideas? For some, it is when they are driving, in the shower, or when they go to sleep.

5. This was also an interesting article. One of (what I believe) one of the most important concepts in 'Creativity' is to remember that it is NOT something just for the 'gifted'. Anyone can 'learn' to become more creative through 'practice'.

In any event, the authors premise is that creative thinkers should think 'inside' rather than 'outside the box. The focus should be on 'internal aspects'. Some box tools to generate creative ideas, products, etc is do the following: 1) Separate the components, then rearrange them 2) Copy a component then alter it 3) Bring together unrelated tasks and functions.

Most people when their hear of an invention, often think, 'why didn't I think of that'? The reason lies in the items listed above. Often, inventions are based on things that already exist in the world.
