DATABASE DESIGN - CAKE SHOP

A customer is starting a new coffee shop chain called "star coffee". They want to keep the following information in their database:

· The products they offer. Examples of products are cappuccino, chocolate cake, quiche. All products have a full description, price, and category. The categories are coffee, tea, water, soda, cake, lunch and other.

· Customer name.

· Customer phone.

· Customer suburb (they don't need the full address).

· Customer email.

· Customer transactions - eg. What the customer purchased, when and how (card/cash etc.).

· If the customer purchased with a card - what type of card, the number of the card and the expiry date of the card.

Examples of information they would like to retrieve from the database includes:

· Trends on the suburbs certain products are purchased from ie. "what suburb purchased the most chocolate cakes - or what suburb purchased the most cakes".

· All emails from a particular suburb so they can send marketing information.

· What product category is the most popular.
