Protecting the privacy and security of information we receive from patients, residents, and others we care for is an example of living our Core Value of Reverence. Federal and state privacy laws require that we protect and secure the privacy of all protected health information we encounter in our work. Personal or protected health Information (PHI) must be protected and secured and may be found in all of the following, EXCEPT: Paper and electronic medical records Verbal discussions about medical issues Portable devices such as laptops or USB drives Employment records.
