The assignment requires you to write an essay to examine, describe, and evaluate venues that provide facilities for both conferences and exhibitions.

It requires you to demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the activities of the business events industry (conferences and exhibitions) and the venue facilities used by the BE industry.

You should begin by considering the various user groups of conferences and exhibitions; corporate, Association and Government; the characteristics of the conferences of these different groups (duration, attendance levels, who pays, programming) and their different requirements of a venue.

Then identify the different activities that make up the conference program (welcome receptions, keynote addresses, break out sessions, tea and coffee breaks, social activities, award ceremonies, gala dinners etc)

For each of the three scenarios, describe the spatial requirements (based on number of delegates attending, number of rooms required at different sizes within the venue)

Then propose a certain type of venue that would be suitable to cater for the needs of each conference scenario e.g. a hotel, a convention and exhibition centre, a university
