Use the two public health scenarios listed below and consider a theoretical framework or model (Diffusion of Innovation Theory, Theories of Organizational Change, Social Cognitive Theory, and Socio-Ecological Model) you may apply to address the public health issue presented in each scenario.
Scenario 1
Two mothers have some health problems, such as hypertension and diabetes. They are both pressured by her children to start exercising every day because they had learned about the need for it in school. Although both mothers want do increase their physical activity to improve their health, only one of them eventually did that. What factors (e.g., sociodemographic, values, contributions of public health systems) need to be quantitatively investigated to predict the behavior change for these women? Please formulate two research questions to explore these factors, within the context of the theory you selected for this scenario.
Scenario 2
Several studies have shown that the one of the leading causes of death among men in the United States is cardiovascular disease (CVD). Although, high levels of blood pressure and cholesterol have been identified as significant CVD risk factors, their prevalence remain high in this population group. What factors (e.g., values, behaviors, contributions from multiple professions and public health systems) need to be quantitatively investigated to significantly control blood pressure and cholesterol levels in American men? Please formulate two research questions to explore these factors, within the context of the theory you selected for this scenario.
