The assessments for this subject are described below. The description includes the type of assessment, its purpose, weighting, due date and submission requirements, the topic of the assessment, details of the task and detailed marking criteria, including a marking rubric for essays, reports and presentations. KOI expects students to submit their own original work in both assignments and exams or the original work of their group in the base of group assignments.
Submission Details: You need to state the word count of the assessment on the cover page. The response should be professionally Times New Roman 12pt, single space. Harvard (Anglia) style referencing.
Assessment 1
Purpose: The purpose is to develop understanding on research ethics, including responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI), citation, referencing, and avoiding plagiarism in academic writing.
Topic: Case study
Task Details: In this assessment, students need to respond to the questions based on the given case study. The response needs to include a minimum of 5 in-text citations and 5 references from credible sources such as Google Scholar. The case study questions and structured template for response are available in Moodle.Case Study
Question 1
Discuss the ethical implications of students using AI to generate content for academic assignments. Is using AI the same as plagiarism? Should it be treated as cheating? (200 ~ 220 words, minimum 2 citations)
Question 2
How can student's check for AI and plagiarism and be assured that both are within the acceptable limit before submitting your work for marking? (100 ~ 150 words, minimum 2 citations)
Question 3
Consider how AI-generated content should be cited in academic work. Should students disclose when AI tools have been used? What citation standards can be applied, and how would they differ from traditional citations of human-generated work? (200 ~ 250 words, minimum 2 citations)
