Analytics Capstone: Industry Research Project

Assessment - Capstone Project Report

Task

Complete and deliver your capstone analytics project, incorporating predictive analytics (machine learning and/or forecasting) as a core component of the analysis.

Prepare a final project report that demonstrates how your project addresses a relevant industry problem through data-driven methods and incorporates the feedback received in Assessments 1 and 2.

Deliver a clear and persuasive 3-minute pitch that communicates the business value, key findings, and recommendations of your project.

Assessment Description

Assessment 3 is the final capstone task and includes two major deliverables:
a written project report, and
a 3-minute in-workshop pitch.

It builds on the work completed in Assessments 1 and 2, which acted as project milestones.

You are required to consolidate your analytics project into a coherent final submission.

Your report must clearly demonstrate:
how your analysis addresses a relevant industry problem,
how you applied data analytics methods to generate insights and recommendations, and
how you have responded to feedback received in earlier assessments.

Assessment Instructions

Provide a report and pitch about your proof-of-concept solution that demonstrates your ability to outline a relevant industry business problem and formulate an analytical question, apply descriptive and predictive analytics techniques to address that problem, provide evidence-based recommendations supported by visualisations and analytical outputs, and communicate these recommendations effectively to both analytics and business audiences.

Submit your final report as a Word document or PDF. The report should be approximately 2000 words in length (±10%), excluding references and appendices.

Report structure: Organise your report using the required sections listed above, including the executive summary, industry problem, data processing and management, data analytics methodology, visualisation and evaluation of results, recommendations, and data ethics and security.

Visuals and outputs: Include clear and relevant tables, charts, visualisations, and analytical outputs to support your analysis, findings, and recommendations.

References: Support your report with at least ten relevant academic references and ensure that in-text citations are used appropriately throughout.

Appendices and supporting files: Include an appendix with additional methodological detail where appropriate and upload the relevant analytics model file(s) and one supporting file showing data preparation.

Pitch presentation: Deliver a clear and persuasive 3-minute pitch in class. Your pitch should present the same project as your report and communicate its business value, key findings, and recommendations.
