Stadia is used to estimate the distance from the instrument to a target. Using inclined sights the horizontal distance and vertical distance between the center of the instrument and the target and the elevation of the rod can be determined.
1) determine the horizontal distance, given:Stadia Top=8.5 ,Stadia Bottom 6.21, vertical angle= -8 degrees 42 minutes.
2)If the ground elevation at the instrument is 2045' msl (mean sea level), what is the ground elevation at the rod?
a channel which has a trapezoidal cross-section with a bottom width of 6 m and side slopes 1:2 discharges water at a rate of 5 m3/s. Determine the critical depth.
The channel cross section is rectangular in shape, with a bed width of 4 m and Manning n of 0.022. The bed drops by an average of 4.2metres every kilometre. The maximum flow in the channel is equal to 7 m3/s.
The following wind conditions are expected: V = 10 i - 5 j mph for 0 10 hr. Draw to scale the expected streakline of the stream for t = 3, 10, and 15 hr.
The uniform load has a mass of 450 and is lifted using a uniform 35- strongback beam and four ropes. Determine the Tension in the ropes Determine the force that must be applied at A.
assuming the entire system has reached equilibrium what is the distance that must be used between the inputs shown and
1. The three isometric axes are: vertical and two axes 30 degrees from horizontal. 2. Oblique projection is a perspective projection method. 3. Isometric view represents a parallel projection method.
0.1 moles of an ideal gas contained in a piston-cylinder assembly undergoes the heat pump cycle shown below. The cycle operates counter-clockwise. Evaluate the coefficient of performance.
a 200 lb divers stands on the end of the diving board. determine the shear force and bending moment diagrams
A copper wire breaks under an engineering stress of 43x10^3 psi. Its ductility is 77%it reduction area. Calculate the true stress (in psi) for fracture in the neck region.
determine the correspondig angular acceleration alpha of the beam, the acceleration of C, and the distance b from B to a point P on the beam centerline which has no acceleration
Determine the air pressure at the top of a 300 m high building by assuming the density of air stays constant at the z = 0 value. Now compute the pressure assuming the density of the air varies. Is there a significant difference.
determine the velocity of the 30 kg block A if two block are released from rest and the 20 kg block B moves 0.6 m up the incline. the coefficient of kinetic friction between both blocks and the inclined plane is 0.10
