Q. What is Venturimeter?

The Venturimeter is an apparatus for finding out the discharge of a liquid flowing in a pipe . A Venturimeter in its simplest from consist of the following parts.

(a) Convergent Cone - An inlet of the Venturimeter . The slop of the converging sides in between 1 in 4 or 1 in 5.

(b) Throat - It is a small portion of circular pipe.

(c) Divergent Cone - An out let of the Venturimeter . The length of divergent cone is about 3 to 4 time that of the convergent cone.

The dia of the throat & pipe d2 / d1 always fixed . This ratio varies ¼ to ¾ but most suitable 1/3 to ½.
