What is Monomials and Polynomials in maths?

An expression like 7x is called a monomial.
A monomial is an integer, a variable, or a product of integers and variables.

Other examples of monomials include z, ab, 17, and 8ab. The expressions a- 2, x+y and 3a+1are not monomials.

An algebraic expression that contains more than one monomial is called a polynomial. A polynomial is a sum or difference of monomials.

A binomial has 2 monomials. A trinomial contains 3 monomials.
