Q. What is Long Welded Rail?

Long Welded Rail is a welded rail the central part of which dose not under go any longitudinal movement due to temperature variation, normally a length greater than 200 m on BG and 300 m. on MG should function as LWR. The maximum length of LWR has been prescribed as one kilometer under Indian condition.
