To which heart chamber does the blood go after leaving the left atrium? What is the valve that separates these compartments?

The arterial blood that has come from the lungs to the left atrium passes then to the left ventricle.

The valve among the left ventricle and the left atrium is the mitral valve, a bicuspid (two leaflets) valve. The mitral valve is significant because it prevents the regurgitation of blood to the left atrium during systole (contraction of the ventricles).
