Q. Resources available to develop career strategy?

1. Networking to market: having identified target organizations and contacts marketing materials and networking targets has to be developed. The operant principle here is the known person gets the job. Because more than 65 percent of the people who get jobs get them through networking it pays to take a proactive approach in networking efforts. The purpose in networking is to publicize a candidate availability get advice and information about in trends in a particular industry to uncover other useful contacts and to get potential job leads.

2. Finding available positions: the developed network contacts can be used to identify job opportunities.

3. Preparing for the interview: the candidate who gets the job is not necessarily the person who is most qualified often it is the one who is best prepared. Preparation leads to quite confidence quite confidence speaks volumes about relevant competence. But job interviews can be intimidating especially when entering the job market for the first market. The steps to successful interview preparation include:

a. Knowing you.

b. Knowing the job wanted.

c. Researching the organization and industry.

d. Preparing specific questions to ask at the interview.

e. Practicing interviewing for confidences.
