Burke et al. (2006) found that both person-focused and task-focused behaviours are equally important for team effectiveness. Person-focused behaviours emphasise creating vision, maintaining close social relationships and cohesion, empowering and motivating team members, especially in times of difficulty, whereas task-focused behaviours emphasise task completion either through rewards/punishment, minimisation of role ambiguity and conflict and increasing access to resources/information for the team. completion either through rewards/punishment, minimisation of role ambiguity and conflict and increasing access to resources/information for the team.
