Optical Character Recognition Software (OCR)
Frequently, you will have printed matter and the other text to incorporate in your project although no electronic text file. Along with OCR software, a flat bed scanner and your computer you can keep many hours of rekeying printed words and determine the job done faster and more exactly than a roomful of typists.
Optical Character Recognition Software turns bitmapped characters in electronically recognizable ASCII text. A scanner is usually used to produce the bitmap. After that, the software breaks the bitmap in chunks as per to whether this contains text or graphics through examining the texture and density of regions of the bitmap and through detecting edges. The text regions of the bitmap are then converted to ASCII characters by using possibility and expert system algorithm. Most Optical Character Recognition application claim 99% accuracy while reading 8 to 36 point characters at 300 dpi and can reach processing speeds of around 150 character per second.
