How to Converting Scientific Notation to Standard Notation ?
To change a number in scientific notation to standard notation, move the decimal point the same number of places as the value of the exponent. If the exponent is positive, move to the right. If the exponent is negative, move to the left.
Note: As you move the decimal point, add zeros where there are no numbers in the decimal place.
Example 1: Convert 5.6 X 104 to standard notation.
Since the exponent is positive four, move the decimal point four places to the right. As you move the decimal point, add three zeros at the end. The answer is 56,000.
Example 2: Convert 6.3 X 10-3 to standard notation.
Since the exponent is negative three, move the decimal point three places to the left. The answer is 0.0063.
