Explain the Position of the endospore?
Endospore cannot be stained by ordinary methods such as simple staining and gram staining because these dyes do not penetrate the wall of endospore. By treating with simple stain e.g. methylene blue, spores can be visible as colourless areas. The position of spores in mother cell varies with species. It may be located terminally, sub-terminally or centrally inside the vegetative cell. Also the diameter of the endospore may be the same or smaller or larger than the diameter of the vegetative cell.
