Existence value of biodiversity, Biology

Assignment Help:

There may also be non-use existence values for components of biological diversity due to the value placed on biodiversity purely based on its continued existence, irrespective of whether or not it will ever be used. Sometimes individuals gain a benefit by the mere knowledge that a particular component of biodiversity exists. For instance, people who donate money to a conservation organisation may never expect to ever visit the habitat, or use the species, which the organisation aims to conserve. Hence, they derive satisfaction simply by the fact of the continued survival of the species or habitat in question.
