Enzyme Activity

Enzymes are biomolecules which catalyze (i.e. increase the rates of) chemical reactions. Almost all enzymes are proteins. In enzymatic reactions, the molecules at the starting of the process are known as substrates, and the enzyme converts them into various molecules, the products. Almost all processes within a biological cell need enzymes in sequence to occur at important rates.
