Dissimilarity between open stirrups and closed stirrups, Civil Engineering

Assignment Help:

Question
What is dissimilarity in request between open stirrups and closed stirrups in Concrete beams?

Answer
Open stirrups are supplied principally to oppose shear forces in concrete beams and they are functional in locations in which effect of torsion is insignificant. U-shaped stirrups are located in tension side of concrete beams in which shear cracks will occur. Still, when concrete beams are designed to oppose a significant amount of torsion, closed stirrups must be used in its place.
