Determine the Principles of BCC

BCC should be integrated with program goals from the starting. BCC is a necessary part of diabetes prevention, care and support programs, and providing link with other health programmes.

 -  BCC assessment. It is conducted to understand the needs, problems of the patient, family and community and supports for behaviour change.

 -  The community and patient should participate in all phases of BCC development and implementation.

 -  A variety of communication channels  is more effective than relying on one specific one.

 -  Pre-testing  is essential for developing effective BCC materials.

 -  Planning for monitoring and evaluation should be part of the design of any BCC program.
