Determine net force acting on the piston, Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:

A Single Cylinder Vertical Engine has a stroke of 40cm and a bore of 30cm. The connecting rod is 100cm long. The mass of the reciprocating parts is 140Kg on the expansion stroke with the crank at 30 degree from the T.D.C the gas pressure is 0.7MPa. If the engine runs at 250 r.p.m. , Calculate:

1) Resultant load on the gudgeon pin,
2) Net force acting on the piston,
3) Thrust on the cylinder walls, and
4) The speed above which, other things remaining same, the gudgeon pin load would be reversed in direction.
