Describe Genetic Recombination ?
Genetic recombination, which provides the variation necessary for evolution, can occur through a variety of processes during cell reproduction: deletion, or accidental loss of chromosome sections; duplications, where portions of homologous chromosomes become attached to a homologue, resulting in duplicated genes; crossovers, exchange of segments of homologous chromosomes that occurs during prophase I of meiosis; inversions, segments that are in reverse order with respect to the rest of the chromosome; and translocations, in which a piece of a chromosome may become attached to another chromosome.
How can the concept of recombination frequency be used in genetic mapping? Genetic mapping is the determination of the location of the genes in a chromosome. By determining
