Assignment Help:

Define Advantage and Disadvantage of Electron Beam Machining

Advantage

1. Suitable for automatic machining.

2. Absence of mechanical contact between work piece and tool.

3. Capability of making very small holes and slots with high precision, in a short time in any material.

Disadvantage

1. High cost of equipment.

2. Slow production rate because of slow metal removal rate and time required to evacuate the chamber.

3. Limited application due to

a) Small metal removal rate.

b) Vacuum chamber limits the size of the work piece.

4. Skill operators are required.
