Jazz Journal

You will keep a written journal when listening to the Course Music. Each listening journal should include your own personal observations, thoughts, revelations, and comments on 3 songs of your choice from the Course Music. A total of 3 songs, starting on the second week, should be included in the journal. Try to deal with the music in an intelligent, enthusiastic, and open-minded way (NOT simply "I like it" or "I don't like it"). Examples are provided in a separate handout, and there will be in-class writing activities that will clarify what is expected here. The journal will consist of at least eight full pages, TYPED and double-spaced. The Journal should include the following: Classic Jazz, Modern Jazz.
