Hello everyone,
Welcome to Reclaiming Accountability, a nonprofit organization committed to transforming public education through participatory evaluation. I'm Anastasia Davis.
Our vision is a public education system that is equitable, inclusive, and accountable to the communities it serves. We focus on those historically marginalized due to geography, income, or race. In our envisioned society, educational institutions will be empowerment centers, reflecting the insights of educators, families, and students.
Why is this work crucial? Traditional evaluation processes are often top-down and overlook the lived experiences of those most affected. According to Chouinard and Milley (2018), participatory evaluation engages underrepresented communities in both planning and assessment, amplifying their voices and fostering sustainable change. This approach enhances community ownership and increases relevance.
Our research ensures that performance metrics go beyond test scores, integrating relational, socioemotional, and culturally sensitive data, highlighted by Jones and Rudd (2021) as essential for boosting educational success. Our equity-based, mixed-methods approach enables real-time dynamic feedback loops for school improvement.
Our legacy is transforming accountability from compliance to inclusion and fairness. By centering our work on stakeholder-driven evaluation, Reclaiming Accountability initiates systemic change and offers models for other organizations to promote enduring positive social change.
Thank you.
