THIS IS WHAT I WROTE
Hello everyone, Welcome to Reclaiming Accountability, a nonprofit organization devoted to using participatory evaluation to reform public education. My name is. Anastasia Davis.
We envision a public education system that is fair, inclusive, and community-accountable, particularly for those who were previously excluded because of their geography, income, or race. We envision a society in which educational institutions serve as centers for empowerment, grounded by the perspectives of educators, families, and students.
Why is it important? because the lived experiences of those most impacted are frequently overlooked by top-down evaluation processes. Participatory evaluation involves underrepresented communities in the preparation and analysis of the review, so amplifying their views, as explained by Chouinard and Milley (2018). This results in long-lasting transformation, increases community ownership, and raises relevance.
Our research guarantees that performance metrics incorporate relational, socioemotional, and culturally sensitive data in addition to test scores-elements that Jones and Rudd (2021) deemed crucial for improving educational attainment. Our company is able to create dynamic feedback loops for school improvement in real-time thanks to our equity-based and mixed-methods approach.
Our legacy is one of changing the accountability culture from one based on compliance to one based on inclusion and fairness. Reclaiming Accountability will start systemic change and provide models for other organizations to follow in promoting long-term positive social change by making stakeholder-driven evaluation the focal point of our work.
