A change agent is an individual who will help to initiate the change (De Caluwe and Vermaak, 2003). A guiding team is a group of people who help to implement change in an organization (Saka, 2003). Change agents are important because they are the leaders or team members that will help facilitate the change that you both or all want to see upon the unit. Without a backup reference point, there would be a one sided view and maybe not enough eyes to see the bigger picture or various ways to implement a change as well as take in the views of others.

A guiding team is a group of individuals who support the implementation of change. Having a diverse guiding team to help facilitate change aids in keeping the change applicable to many and fair to all. It also keeps in mind the many groups and cultures that are going to be affected by the change. They all should have good communication skills, open mindedness, understanding, and strong values, in order to be successful because it will help with relating to the team and stakeholders, as well as keeping everything in a closed loop communication that is clear and fair to all parties involved.
