Assume for this exercise that you live in a small town in the Florida Keys. Nearby coral reefs support fish populations and attract tourists, both of which have long sustained the local economy. But in recent years, catches have been plummeting and the local economy is struggling. A company has approached town officials about the development of a large aquaculture facility to farm several valuable fin-fish species. Available land is limited, so they are proposing to cut down fringing mangroves to install shallow rearing pens. As a citizen with some background in marine ecology (having taken this course!), you have some valuable knowledge to convey to the local population as they decide whether or not to encourage this industry. This year, the Superbowl is being held in Miami, and a millionaire has offered to pay for several 1-3 min video ads for or against this proposal to air during the game.
