The film is call Hunger it is about where a Britian jail go on a hunger strike. You have to use the words diegetic, non-diegetic and other stuff about the sound and make suere that it is highlighted. Make sure that the essay offers a clear conclusion or evaluation of the critical relationship between the sound, the image and the viewer's role in the construction of meaning. A good beginning and a conclusion.

Critical Film Response: Sound Objective: This assignment asks you to critically discuss, in a one-page essay, the role of sound (ambient, natural, recorded music and silence) in the construction of meaning in this film. Pick three memorable moments in the film and describe the relationship between the sound and the visual information you are watching. Think and write about sound design in the assigned film. For example, there are how is silence used to describe what the characters are experiencing on screen and how the sound affects your experience. Do the moments of silence add to our viewing experience or not? Is there a distinct "non-musical" sound in the film that tells us something about the tension in the narrative and the development of the characters. Do you think this was an effective use of "musical" sound? Talk about the difference between diegetic sound whose source is visible in the screen and non-diegetic sound that happens outside of the screen and as part of post-production. Do we experience these two modes of sound design differently? Your essay must be no less that one page, but you can write more if you're compelled to investigate these issues in greater detail. You are required to highlight the theoretical terminology (diegetic and non-diegetic)you use from you text. Your essay must be in submitted as word or pdf file. • Where is the sound that you are hearing coming from? Is it coming from an object in the Mise-en-scène or outside of this constructed space?

• Can you describe what you feel when you are experiencing the sound and images as they play out before you?
