PURPOSE
This assignment will helps students be aware of personal self talk and if they have not already to start treating themselves with just as much gentleness and love as they treat others.
Directions
Step 1: Think of some weaknesses, fears or anxieties, thought processes or emotional responses pertaining to present, or future situations, events, people (including yourself) and relationships. Somethings you would like to change your cognitions and thought processes about.
Step 2: Take time to write down what your internal dialogue is regarding the above mentioned factors (what you usually tell yourself when they arise).
Step 3: Now try to assume a role of your Best Friend (Lover, family member, someone you are in love with or deeply care about) and reverse the roles. If your best friend, family member, someone you are in love with or deeply care about came to you and opened up about exact same feelings, what would you tell them and why?
Step 4: First you will write your anxieties and what you tell yourself in those situations, then assume a role of above mentioned person(s) and write a response they would give you in those situations.
Your paper should be minimum 5 pages, Times New Roman, 12 Font and double spaced. Step 5:
Write a Conclusion where you discuss/answer the following questions
A) What was the most challenging part of doing the assignment?
B) Did it change anything in your thought process and if yes, how?
C) Did you find it meaningful? How?
D) What is one (can be more than one) important idea you took away from this assignment?
E) Any additional ideas, thoughts and reflections will make your paper even stronger.?
